My formal training began at Pasadena city College
and continued at Monterey Peninsula College and the University of California at
I admire the simplicity of line and composition seen in West African sculpture and in Japanese art. In my own work I hope to incorporate this economy of expression while achieving a realistic representation. I also endeavor to communicate the feeling that prompted me to choose my subject. The refinement and graceful composition of contemporary painters such as Andrew Wyeth, Morris Graves and Alan Magee exemplify the emotional realism I seek in my own work.
